Questions about Therapy
I've tried going to therapy before and it didn't work. How will I know this time will be different?
A: There are so many possible reasons that your last therapy experience wasn't what you expected. Pivot Counseling offers a safe, non-judgmental space to process anxiety, depression, relationships, body image, and identity. Along with building awareness of your patterns in your life, we offer coping skills for stress to build resilience in your personal life so that you no longer feel stuck.
What can I expect from therapy?
A: You can expect open and honest communication. You can expect a supportive, non-judgemental environment that will also push you to achieve your goals. You can expect to laugh, cry, and build clarity surrounding relationships, symptoms of anxiety, your values and identity, and your relationship with food. You can also expect to process concrete goals that will allow you to build every day reslience.
Will you judge me?
A: I approach stories and beliefs that aren't within my view of the world with curiosity, rather than judgement. I celebrate the uniqueness of the human experience and understand that individuals coming into my office are already probably judging themselves more than necessary. Its not beneficial or ethical for me to add to that.
A: I accept credit and debit cards, cash, check, and health savings accounts.
When are payments due?
A: Payments are due at the beginning of each session. Pivot will also ask you to fill out and sign a credit card consent form in case of no-shows and late cancellations.
My insurance is out of network. How does that affect rates?
A: Even if you're insurance is in network, Pivot Counseling strongly encourages you to call them to better understand your rates and deductible. If your insurance is out of network, I will offer the standard rate of $150 and will supply you with a monthly statement for you to turn into your insurance for reimbursement.
